Summary:

Modern scholars, popular media, and self-styled intellectuals often regard the Gospels as unreliable and their picture of Jesus as unbelievable. Such skepticism is typically rooted in some pretty serious claims about the historical integrity of the text of the New Testament. They span from the charge that the Gospels are merely the product of Christian mythology (and not the testimony of eyewitnesses) to allegations that the biblical texts were corrupted by ancient and medieval scribes and, thus, are unreliable. This presentation will survey and respond to these (and other) arguments and, from the evidence, make a case for the Bible's historical reliability and the truthfulness of the Christian faith. 

Our Presenter:

Adam Francisco is Director of Academics and scholar in residence at 1517. He earned his DPhil from the University of Oxford and has two decades of experience teaching history, philosophy, and theology. He is cohost of The Thinking Fellows podcast, author of a number of books, articles, and translations, and popular speaker on the topics of Christian apologetics, worldview, and the religion of Islam. He and his wife, Rachel, have four children, are care providers for foster children, and live in Wheaton, Illinois.
