Blessed are the helpless and the hopeless
You have to wonder how popular of a preacher Jesus would have been today.
“Blessed are you…” Well, that’s a good start. But then Jesus goes on to say who is blessed: the poor, the hungry, the weeping, and those are hated for just being a Christian. Doesn’t sound like a winning sales pitch to me.
But here is the reality: we
will
have crosses as Christians. We may even be persecuted and hated by others. Christ doesn’t say that’s good, but He does say that we are blessed nevertheless. Because in the end, the Lord will
use
such hardships for our good, to strengthen and to mature us as His disciples.
